I think some things shouldn't change...
at least not change in that manner. It's an iconic car, classic American muscle which means front engine and I think it should remain that way just because of its history.
If Chevy wants to make a mid engine supercar then they certainly can I just don't think they should do it under the Corvette name. But that's just my opinion.

To me, the problem is less that they made it look like a McLaren and more that it looks like a Camaro.

Fewer Mustangs than Camaros. Mustangs are more refined, more for the Manager than the Poors, unlike Camaros.
