Come to think of it, I don't think many of those folks are virtue signaling. I think they genuinely believe it, and it's an understandable sentiment. But I think they're (i) ignoring or underestimating the human toll resulting from a depression and (ii) vastly overestimating the percentage of furloughed or unemployed people that will have jobs waiting for them once the virus scare abates and governmental restrictions are lifted.
