we visited church history sites before driving to Syracuse for the game that evening. At the Joseph Smith family home, we were among a large group, most of whom had BYU gear on and were obviously there for the game. There was one special soul in the group who was decked out in red from head to toe, and appeared to lack normal social graces. He loudly and proudly made several unprovoked, out-of-context jabs at BYU during the tour, to which none of the dozens of Y fans ever responded.
Finally, toward the end of the tour, he said something about Utah being the "school of the prophets" since the members of the First Presidency were U grads. The senior missionary guiding the tour, acknowledging him for the first time, quietly (and somewhat sadly) said, "It's too bad that the current faculty and administration seem to have forgotten their noble history." The look on the U fan's face was priceless. He opened his mouth to reply, but was left speechless, as though he had just choked on his words. As the rest of us quietly followed the missionary, the Ute fan stood there not quite knowing what to say. One of the funniest things I've ever witnessed.
