CDC director says that we have to learn to live with this disease for 24 months.
This type of disease is spread so easily that you cannot isolate it for 6 weeks and then be done with it forever. You need herd immunity (60% of the population) and you get that through contracting the disease or vaccine
There are two opposite sides at stake here: normalcy and disease prevention by closing non essential services. Normalcy will cause chaos to the healthcare system and quarantine for weeks upon weeks will cause chaos to the mental health system, economy, etc.
Right now the politicians are swung to one side. Is there a middle ground? I don’t have the answers but it doesn’t feel like we are on a path that can mentally last for months upon months.
If hydroxychloroquine works than do we need to move towards the middle? If mortality rate keeps getting lower then do we move a little closer to the middle? There has to be other indicators that will move us closer to the middle Of the road than just transition rate through isolation. that just feels like a slow death in the other areas of life. What’s ironic is public health 101 teaches that health is more than just being free of disease: you need to be well rounded physically, spiritually, mentally, intellectually, and socially to be completely healthy.
I would not want to be a governor right now.
