He is insinuating (with zero proof, by the way) that someone who has lung cancer and is on death's door already, gets the coronavirus, but dies due to the lung cancer (this would usually mean that the patient is taken off life support, feeding tube is taken out, and is put on hospice, which is not how COVID patients are dying). But, even then, the doctor's are saying its a COVID-19 death. Anyone in the medical field will tell you no doctors are doing this.
What this chart is really showing is how an underlying condition (like cancer, diabetes, etc.) can excacerbate the symptoms and morbidity of COVID-19. What is happeneing with these patients is they are getting infected with the virus, and their underlying conditions are causing that virus to be more deadly than had they been otherwise healthy. The virus ends up causing the death, not the underlying condition (the underlying condition certainly accelerates things, but the important point here is that had the patient not been infected with COVID-19., they would not have died yet. Hence, COVID-19 was the root cause for their death.
This guy is trying to argue that if you have lung cancer, but get in a car accident and die on the way to your chemo treatment, that cancer should be listed as the cause of death on your death certificate. Ridiculous.
