This comment got me thinking. I know there are rules followed within the LDS culture that are part of BYUs rules, but the idea that BYU represents the "LDS lifestyle" kind of bothers me. This is no offense to the OG poster of this comment. It's just a thought that came up after reading that. I hope BYU isn't truly a beacon of the LDS lifestyle, but unfortunately for some, it's all they've experienced of the mormon culture. I think general population of LDS people are much less uptight and more excepting of people and their lifestyle choices outside of BYU.
As far as recruits, I wish they could see how the majority of us are pretty laid back and truly don't care about so many tiny things that don't affect the true type of person someone is. I think BYU would be more appealing to recruits if that were the case. I might be way off here. just some random thoughts.
