RE: Outside of Utah valley it’s fair.
A few years ago they did an article on population density, etc. They used a standard of how many people live in a town of 20,000 or more. By their metrics Utah was (as has been stated elsewhere in this thread) one of the most urbanized states in the country. Almost 90 percent of the population lives in a narrow corridor from Brigham City down to Payson. The rest of the state is practically uninhabited. As has also been stated elsewhere in this thread, Federal and State land ownership explains most of this.
