It’s the same reason I see so many people with “Lyme Disease”
Antibody testing is often not highly specific. I’ve seen several patients who have been in appropriately treated for Lyme disease because dishonest or misinformed practitioners thought that a positive Lyme antibody test meant they had Lyme disease. This is the bad science behind most of these clinics that advertise treating it. Almost always the antibodies are created to fight something else the patient was exposed to and cross reactive with Lyme on testing. PCR testing for this isn’t going to happen over night.
