I watched an episode of one of those "how well do you know your parents" kind of shows and it was dripping with Canadianisms so I was curious and looked it up and see it was made in Toronto and byutv just picks it up to run with it. (Paying licensing fees etc)

They obviously curate their content and pick shows that match the family values etc.

They produce quite a bit of original content too, but not all of it.
