HP and Dell are the only viable alternatives for US enterprise
But I bet you see one of them fail soon. I interviewed 15 CISOs from Fortune 100 companies these last few weeks. 30% reduction in IT staff among the Fortune 100 the remainder of this year and about half of them are moving to BYOD (even for laptops). You're going to see a massive shift in the way that IT is done.
So, yes, this post was much more about the future where people are making decisions about their own tech. But, I think that's going to be happening more and more.
