I think everybody understands this, but maybe not from some posts.
Cloth masks(or any other mask not designed to filter virus)
- do not protect the wearer from inhaling the virus
- do protect other people if the wearer is infected by keeping the infected person from spewing infected breath droplets as far as without a mask.
- may keep wearer from touching their face as much
- may cause wearer to touch their face more
- stores the virus in the mask material
It seems obvious that wearing non-virus filtering masks does have some value, but people need to not be lead to think it is actively protecting them from inhaling virus
Masks that do have the ability to filter virus are a slightly different discussion and should obviously be more effective control measure.
