I heard this for the first time today...
A video described in great detail how the radiation attacks our cells.
In response our cells fight back by excreting all of the damage in the form of a virus. We then touch our face after we have excreted the virus and bam! Infected.
What an amazingly stupid unbelievable explanation. They could have come up with better.
