I think there's good reason to make physical contact with other people.
It's a social construct, for sure. So we could change it. But my opinion is that it's overall a good thing for society to have some sort of physical introduction, touch opportunities. It's good for people.

I will definitely continue handshaking. In addition to being able to communicate empathy, interest, etc - I think it's healthy to pass around some germs. Sure we all get sick now and again. BUt seriously, that is part of society and I think if you try to eliminate that completely then at some point can a relatively minor virus wipe out many more people?

I'm old, and old school. I think it's good for kids to play in the dirt, roll around, get germy, and pass all that crap along to each other. It's how we build up immunity to things.

When something like this comes along, we can be smart and avoid social contact for a short time. (although I will say that I'm not convinced covid-19 is either as contagious or as deadly as we all were told back in early March)

Notice germophobes; don't misconstrue this as me saying it's okay to be dumb. Washing hands more often should be permanent, and hopefully that happens. But I don't agree that we need to permanently distance ourselves from each other - that's just dumb.
