This is just run of the mill power struggle for control of the team between
two stars. It happens all the time. No need to panic.
Unfortunately for Mitchell, he has yet to ascend as the best player on the team but still (would appear) wants control of the team.
This kind of a stalemate during the downtime is not a bad thing.
