There are several, conflicting grammar/style guidelines out there, so stop citing them as hard rules. The guidelines also account for left-hand justification vs double justification since word processors treat spacing differently in each case. Most style guides prefer a single space after a period when using double justification; there is disagreement when using left-hand justification (I prefer two spaces).

But Microsoft doesn't prefer a style; they dictate.
