Honestly, that might be the biggest X factor BYU has these days.
The program itself definitely isn't more appealing than the competition.
The real underlying reason many go to BYU is the LDS culture and in particular to be around lots of LDS girls. That and parents like the environment for their kids with regards to standards and staying active in the Church.
