My first was in Las Vegas too, $254K but not new construction. And the rest of my story doesn't follow yours either.
Bought in 2005, enjoyed the equity we had in it for a whole 3 months or so, tried to get the bank to approve a short sale on it for $150K in 2008 when I was losing my job. They said nope and forclosed. It sold at auction in January of 2009 for $90k.
