If Sitake were half as knowledgeable about football, and as involved in the
analytics of coach, leadership and motivation as Pope, he would be 10x the coach he is now. Pope, from all I have seen so far, is fully invested in becoming the best coach, creating the best locker room, getting the best players, putting together the best game plan, and getting the most out of his team. Sitake is a good cheerleader and can dance a jig once in a while, but the guy just does not demonstrate any kind of sustained desire to succeed as Pope, nor has he provided hope that he is capable of taking the team beyond mediocrity. That's what happens when being liked is more important to a coach than being the best at his craft. Sitake does not strike me as being driven - which really troubles me since BYU determined it is just fine with mediocrity by renewing his contract. And what did Sitake give BYU in return? Crap performances vs. STSU and Hawaii. He got what he wanted - so Sitake dialed back the effort. That is the total antithesis of Pope. What a contrast.
