The only downsides yesterday -
1) For a generation that considers themselves enlightened and woke, they sure don't mind acting like they rented the place and hired a DJ. Zero concern for anyone else trying to enjoy themselves.
2) Half the dogs that we passed were really struggling. It wasn't hot, but it was a strong sun and most of the path is fairly sandy so why these owners think this is just a normal six mile walk for a dog is beyond me. Every other group/couple had a dog with them and many were very belabored.
Overall, i highly recommend the hike. It had been a few years since I had done it and I probably did go on the busiest day of the year. There really are very few spots on the earth akin to southern Utah.
