I heard a way of the NBA coming back that is similar to the NHL
They might play some regular season games at the beginning and then have a 24 team playoff. The first 4 teams in each conference would get a bye and then the teams 5-12 would play a best of 3 series for a play in into the playoffs. With this format the Knicks would make the playoffs and there would be some pretty good matchups.

East
1 Bucks (Bye)
2 Raptors (Bye)
3 Celtics (Bye)
4 Heat (Bye)
5 Pacers vs 12 Knicks (Knicks back in the playoffs)
6 76ers vs 11 Bulls (Bulls in playoffs after The Last Dance)
7 Nets vs 10 Hornets
8 Magic vs 9 Wizards (Jordan back in playoffs)

West
1 Lakers (Bye)
2 Clippers (Bye)
3 Nuggets (Bye)
4 Jazz (Bye)
5 Thunder vs 12 Spurs (Pop can work some magic for the upset)
6 Rockets vs 11 Kings
7 Mavericks vs 10 Pelicans (Zion vs Luka match up)
8 Grizzlies vs 9 Trail Blazers (Ja vs Damian match up)

In the second round: the 1 seed would play the winner of the 8-9 match up; 2 seed would play the winner of the 7-10 match up; 3 seed would play winner of the 6-11 match up; and the 4 seed would play the winner of the 5-12 match up.

I like this scenario because it gives my Jazz a bye and gives them a match up against the Thunder or the Spurs which they match up well against and they wouldn't play the Rockets until the second round which is only if they beat the Nuggets and the Kings which isn't likely. It also puts some teams in the playoffs that we haven't seen in years. Gonna be interesting no matter what the NBA chooses
