The few times in my life I've been around someone who was signing...they did the signing with their hands and mouthed the words - I guess because some deaf people also read lips.
I've noticed just during the pandemic that some of the signers for these high profile politicians almost take it to the "mime" level with the way they contort their faces in such an over-exaggerated fashion. It's way beyond just mouthing the words they are signing.
Is there a standard for this...or does each ASL practitioner kind of come up with their own style?
