they grow and develop at a pretty slow pace that first year so you get plenty of time to figure out each step, but that also means that right when you feel like you figured things out and got the hang of things, they move to the next phase

from baby that just eats, poops, sleeps to
rolling around and sitting up to
crawling and grabbing everything and putting it in their mouths to
pulling themselves up on to things to
walking and getting into everything not locked or nailed down

If you volunteer to change diapers, your wife will love you. Especially if she breast feeds, she has to do 90% of everything for the baby, so its nice to not have to ask for the help with the little things that you are actually able to help with.
