I got our 8-year a bikes direct bike and it's junk
She can ride on the pavement, but anything offroad is virtually a no-go if she has to switch gears.
The bike is heavy, cheap components, cheap brakes, and we probably couldn't even sell it for $25 after 1 year and spending $200 on it.
We're already looking for a new one for her.
I think a 12-year old would be sorely disappointed.
