& may not have offered all of Rose's kids who are on the roster right now. We know that he did cut the schollie offer to the one Rose signee from last year (who I think he correctly gauged wasn't gonna give us much immediate value — & last preseason Pope knew he needed to make some severe changes at multiple levels to deliver a special season for BYU). But I think it's important to remember one of Pope's two recruits that played last season--Barcello--as many minutes as he got, was very firm in playing a support role only to the trio of Seniors — only one of which was Pope's recruit (though we could in all honestly count Yoeli as his recruit too).
To this point, I think Pope's been extremely kind to the kids left on the roster. Iows — he'd been very loyal to the kids who were already here. Even the ones who struggled to perform last year through either injury or lack of talent/conditioning.
And what he did to elevate Lee's game is something we weren't ever gonna see with the old staff. And yet Colby Lee is very likely a guy who would not play for Mark Pope at BYU — unless things happened like they did.
