Malkovich is a national treasure and Steve Carell has developed into a great actor, regardless of genre (although I could not bring myself to watch Welcome to Marwen). It's a farce, so there will always be an element of absurdity, but it is well written and acted and is able to move beyond the absurd to be both entertaining and relatable.
