I'll leave this in the BYU category because I think his duration as coach will have a lot to do with how successful Coach Pope is. I think the U kept 80K around and put up with the constant revolving door because he recruited well against Rose and got a number of players to commit to Utah that Rose also recruited.
With the success Pope had last year and how it appears that lots of players, especially in the transfer portal, are willing to consider BYU (even if they don't ultimately choose to transfer here), it is obvious that BYU has suddenly become a very attractive place to play basketball. From my perspective, there's been a significant shift in the college basketball world in the state of Utah, and it 100% favors BYU. If Utah wants their program to retain any relevance in the state, I think they have to make a make a move and bring in a new coach. How soon does that happen?
