An alternative to Mongolian BBQ is to do the Japanese teppanyaki-style cooking. Here's what I do:
Cut steak and/or chicken into bite-sized chunks (you can also cook whole, deveined shrimp). Also slice onions, mushrooms, and zucchini. Make up some garlic butter by softening the butter, then mixing in about 1 T minced garlic per softened cube.

For each item you're going to fry, start with a good-sized glob of the garlic butter, then throw on the chicken, or the steak, or the veggies (I cook each vegetable separately, then mix them together at the end). While each item is cooking, add in more garlic butter if needed, and splash on a good amount of soy sauce, and stir-fry that around.

Serve over sticky rice with these sauces:

Garlic/Mustard sauce (for beef and chicken):
1 c Sesame seeds; white
2 ts English mustard; powdered
1 c Soy sauce
1c Vegetable oil
1 tb Garlic; freshly ground
1 c Onion; freshly ground

Put all ingredients into the blender and blend thoroughly.

Ginger sauce (for veggies or shrimp)

1/3 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup sake
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp grated garlic
1 tsp grated ginger

Notes: be careful not to overcook! (especially the shrimp). Also, Google how to do a volcano onion--that can be kind of cool.
