I felt like the writer/director read a bunch and researched it really well and found some direct quotes in books that they really liked so they put them in, but the context and speed of the movie made all those direct quotes feel very out of place and awkward.

In the end I didn't get caught up in the performances, sound stage appearance, and CGI issues because I'm a history nerd. But I did notice them.
