Is it bad that I kind of hope that the college football season does not happen?
My thoughts on the topic: Many of the P5 programs are operating in the red, relying upon state subsidies to make up the difference. Many of those supposed P5 programs probably should not be P5 when compared to BYU (I am thinking about the Kansas States and Utahs of the world) from a pure program market potential and history standpoint. My secret hope here is that athletic departments across the country face the repercussions of having had to inorganically compete with the Alabama's of the world over the last 15 years. I believe that many of less "P5" P5 programs will suffer through a cancelled football season, and have to make very real decisions about what to do with their athletic departments, even decisions that could disqualify them from P5 participation. Any scenario like this would only benefit BYU, imo, due to our program never expending money that we do not have. As grim and backwards as it is to say, I think a cancelled football season actually helps BYU.
