Bert609 Intervention Needed
TLDR: It's a good time to be in the off-road market.

Jeep: Most flexible platform, off road work horse, no compromise off-roader for the 21st century. Cons? Highway handling (especially with a lift and larger than 33" tires) and payload capacity.  Fun Fact:  The JL wheelbase was extended by 2" in order to fit the 8 speed transmission, this means the JL Unlimited is closer in wheelbase to the Hummer H2 than it is the Toyota 4Runner.  It's not exactly a "small" SUV anymore.

Defender: Attempting to become the "overland" version of the Jeep platform, arguably the best flexibility between off road capability and highway handling, arguably the #1 tourer of the group. Payload capacity crushes it's class and off-road tuning is exceptional. Downside is the ability to modify it thanks to the IFS/IRS suspension and unibody chassis, wheel size may become an issue as the wheelbase is a bit too long for 33" tires (engineers allegedly claim 35" can fit, it remains to be seen). Arguably the most well rounded in the group.  Fun Fact: Defender Test Mules bravely took to the Moab Slick Rock of Hell's Revenge, Fins and Things, and Poison Spider on the heels of last year's Easter Jeep Safari. They did it with some mules on the pedestrian 20" rims and street tire trim level.  Out of the rigs on this list, only Jeep and Land Rover had the guts to publicly test their vehicles on Moab technical terrain for all to see and post online.

Bronco: We've been waiting for this one for 30 years. Closest competitor to the Wrangler, but the IFS is going to be detrimental to over-all off road capability. This is going to be the option for those who don't want FCA drivetrains, and Ford is going to market it like crazy. With lockers front and rear, it will still hold it's own while adding some important highway comfort. Still, I'm not convinced it will outsell the Wrangler. They couldn't do it when it was CJ vs. Bronco and everyone was on equal footing, and now that the Bronco has seceded the ultimate off-road capability crown to Jeep based on suspension design, I don't know why it will overtake them now. Still, this is a platform I could arguably see myself in, assuming it's as good as we think it will be. Fun fact: Ford entered a race rig based on the new Bronco in the 2020 King of Hammers off-road race and did not finish.  The winner?  A Jeep-grilled buggy with solid axles...

Grenadier: This is a new one for me.  They wanted to essentially update the old Defender (which is what Rover should have done, that's all we asked for).  The design is spot on, the capability is going to be excellent, although the "old" Defender chassis even updated is going to be the worst performing off-road in this group despite being the coolest looking.  The reason is that the suspension design for load-carrying isn't the same as rock crawling, so I expect all 3 of the newer rigs to out perform it.   But for modability and durability on long term adventures, the design is tried and true.  Question marks is the BMW engine reliability and if the vehicle is going to be even remotely affordable to the common man.  This is definitely the vehicle for Instagram and YouTube wannabes.   Which means if it's affordable, I'll be first in line.  :D.  Fun Fact:  Land Rover tried to sue them for copyright infringement on the design.  They lost.  I guess you can't trademark a box.
