that they didn’t really want around anyway without much problem because they have the excuse to do so...they make enough money that they can survive a year without it. It has rarely been easier to get rid of an under performing or problem employee without worrying about HR (or Title 9) ramifications. Layoffs and Furloughs have been used during this pandemic to trim the fat so to speak and I think most Universities, including BYU, will do the same.
G5 and below are the ones that may fit your statement. They have 1/3 of the P5 money coming in and sometimes even less so they will be impacted pretty heavily financially.
One last thing. There are leagues all over the world that have proven they can control their environment with no fans, protecting their “bubble”, etc., what makes you believe that these conferences can’t come up with a similar plan of chartered planes, the same hotels with the same cleaning policies, etc? I actually think with certain measures in place they’ll push some games up to Sept. 5th - the normal start date and have 15 weeks to play 9 games. That’s the benefit to conf. membership. SC can’t play Sept 5th so we change that game to December 5th.
