Unless there is a scenario where a team chooses not to play (like Hawaii), adding BYU for a year does very little for the MWC. You can't even argue that BYU would bring more fans as most games will be played in front of no fans or at best a reduced capacity.

I wouldn't be surprised if many MWC teams (and commissioners) would rather stick to BYU even if there were marginal benefits for the conference.
