The comet is visible (look N/NW - follow the handle of the big dipper down)
I could barely see it. It was much easier to see with binoculars. It's pretty low on the horizon - but still above our neighborhood trees.

Saw a very faint star below the big dipper but couldn't make out a tail.

Probably look lower (and now further to the north). The tail is visible.
