Likely so. I once heard Dan Patrick interview an NFL veteran. Talking about the
changes of going from college to the NFL, the player said that the combination of lots of money, fame, and the freedom of living without being monitored by parents and coaches leads almost every NFL player to one or more excesses of: (1) women; (2) substances (alcohol included); and/or (3) gambling. He said that the key is to move quickly beyond the vices so they do not ruin the mental and physical preparation for games, which eventually ruins careers. He also talked about the role of fathers in players' lives, relating it to the ability to move beyond the vices. Most of it was what you would expect to find in the NFL.
