I respect him more for not going along with the easy route on this and saying that for him respecting the flag and our anthem means for him to stand.

I’m a stander, I don’t prefer to sit or kneel or like so many have said go get a drink or popcorn during the national anthem. I’ve always been a stand with your hand on your heart and if you are late to the game or your seat you simply stop and hand over the heart while the national anthem is playing. It takes 2-3 minutes max. I don’t think others are wrong or disrespectful if they are using that time at the game for other things, I just do what I want to do. Every football game my sons played in high school it was the same, most fans do it as well, some do not, but I respect those who do what they feel is respectful for them, even if that’s kneeling or sitting down.
