we inevitably get left behind by the P5 like everyone else, we will turn around to see the AAC and MWC have moved on without us and we should have spent the previous __ years developing relationships with them instead of hoping for a P5 invite that was never going to come.

The AAC especially. Were we to join with Boise, even for football only, it would clearly become the 6th best conference in CFB, an annual de facto NY6 autobid conference, and would have a lot of juice in arguing for a G5 autobid in an 8 team playoff when such a thing inevitably happens.

Instead here we are, jockeying for a P5 spot that is never going to be there.
