think it's more because they feel like they have to spend the money. If people saw programs turning a massive profit, others are going to want to get their hands on that money...like paying players. One of the biggest arguments AGAINST paying players is that the money isn't there to do it. That's patently false, at least at the P5 level. The money is there, it's just currently being spent hand over fist by the athletics departments.
