It makes those who make schedules feel like they have wiggle room. From a public health standpoint, it makes zero
Credible sentence. College football is not being played in a bubble, and college kids aren't going to stop going to parties and being out around others. So whether you are an athlete that is exposed to an in conference version of covid-19 to an out-of-conference version of covid-19 makes no difference. And it doesn't reduce the risk of transmission if you're playing the game either way.

People making decisions are simultaneously shortsighted and risk-averse. You put that together and it's a dangerous combination.
