Jeep tried and failed with the 7-slot grill on Hummer, because the Hummer was being built before
Jeep decided a grill could be trademarked.

In other words, Land Rover has no registered trademarks to defend. The defender was sold for a limited time, the shape hadn't been "established" and there are no registered trademarks. I guess if they register it now, they could have a case. Maybe? Ineos can prover their design was in the works earlier.

Land Rover USA needs to pray this is a $130k SUV, if it comes at all.
