Not much in North Pole except that Christmas store and fast food places, but it makes for a fun stop and photo op. Being right near Fairbanks it'd be an easy flight in, and you could drive the couple hours' South to see Denali. Totally worth it, but Denali only has the 1 road, 90+ miles, one way to a dead end, and you can only drive the first 15. After that you have to have a permit or take the tourist or park transit buses, but again they're worth it. Camping there would also be awesome, but would take some prior planning / schlepping of gear. They say only 30% of visitors see the mountain, so you'd have to stay a couple days to improve your chances.
