mile hike to the lake. The trailhead is near the Brighton ski resort. You pass Silver Lake, which is super congested with people. The trail gets a lot harder and rockier. It's about 1,000 foot incline in the remaining hike. I consider myself in decent shape and I usually don't suck wind on hikes but that was tougher than I thought it would be. So beautiful up there. It got a bit windy but nothing like Strawberry windy.
The reason we chose that lake was because Wildlife resources had it as a fishing hotspot (even though the latest review was from a few weeks ago). We spent about 4 hours up there and didn't catch a thing. Threw everything at them from PowerBait to flies. Nothing. My dad used to call those days the "best fishing ever. I didn't need to gut a single fish."
Fishing sucked. Hike was relatively hard. But nothing like pulling the Xbox controller out of Junior's hands and getting outside again.
