They play the top 4 finishers from last year in the Big 10

Ohio St, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Penn St (all of whom finished ranked in the top 10). Plus they play Iowa, who finished ranked #14 last year. So they play 5 of the top 6 teams in the conference. That's not "relatively soft" by any standard. And I'm sure its more difficult than any other team in the conference.
