On the tour, my dad mentioned to the guide that he had seen Old Ironsides as a young boy in Long Beach, CA. The guide told my dad he must be mistaken, because the ship had never left the east coast.

Turns out the guide was wrong. After a restoration, the ship stopped at ports on both coasts, including Long Beach in 1933. My dad would have been about 7.
