I don’t think it’s a trick. I think they want precisely this.

BYU argued for exemption from those laws prior to Utah passing the new law. I’m not even saying I think this is nefarious - I think it just is what it is. Has anyone from BYU said this has nothing to do with the decision? I doubt it. I would imagine this issue is known by everyone inside and outside BYU as being at the core of the decision.
