LaVell is the Bear Bryant of BYU football and should have a statue at the stadium. They could even put it inside the gate in one of the common areas so they don't have to worry about it getting vandalized.
Back to my original thought....BYU just doesn't care. Haven't we seen that with the level of commitment they have given the football program in general? They don't want to elevate the program to some "status" to where it starts getting more attention, preferential treatment, etc. beyond the stated mission of the University.
