I don’t see any downside, though, given it’s for the minimum contract. He’s not taking a roster spot from a good young prospect, it would just be a depth guy like Petan or Malgin. Really, he takes Freddy Gauthier’s spot in my mind. Not a big hitter or penalty killer but helps fulfill Dubas’ goal of adding some sandpaper and grit, and certainly helps with leadership and experience. Also probably boosts the 2nd power play unit which Gauthier certainly did not do.
