I loved and hated the game Friday. My grandma graduated from UH at age 19 back
when few women even attempted college. She later met Grandpa after leaving a well-paying career (her major was accounting) to serve a mission. Grandpa graduated from BYU and they were married for 67 years before she passed away this March. He was devastated and followed her in June. Their home was true to BYU, and Grandpa was well connected to the school and program. We had many conversations about the team, programs, conference alignments, optimal playoff scenarios, etc. While there is never any question about allegiances when UH and BYU play, it's a match-up I enjoy that will always make me think of them. Part way through the game I thought about how Grandma had the best of us, but then was happy to see Grandpa's team deliver the best 4th quarter we've seen in a long time!
