If we ignore it (that means don't get upset about it!), such labeling likely goes away. But certainly let US not be guilty of pigeon-holing ANY of our athletes as "Mormon", LDS — anything that distinguishes us in our religion.

Of course we're Mormon, but we play & participate in football as athletes, as fans, as a university, and as Americans. When everyone else fully figures that out we'll be welcomed to all the parties we are worthy of — but are currently left out of. (Granted, a lot of our fellow Americans respected us in this way a long time ago, but too many are just too caught up in their prejudices & their tribalisms to be so gracious.)

Oftentimes we've been too much to blame for being left out, though. Chest-thumping to our own uniqueness has NEVER been our friend.
