...years ago I had a single copy newspaper route as a second job and it went through a really sketchy part of town. A friend of mine from my ward also had a route that butted up against mine and his covered the rest of the sketchy part of town which happened to be where there were a lot of prostitutes and massage parlors.

He was a friendly talkative person and was on first name basis with the ladies as he would empty and refill his newspaper machines. One day he got the flu and couldn't do his route so his wife and daughter covered it for him. When they got to this part of his route several of the working ladies there chimed together, "Where's Clarke?" They had lots of nice things to say about him.

DOH!

Needless to say he had some 'splainin' to do when they got home.
