If you need 1 reason for Zach Wilson to return if he's not an automatic first
round pick, look no further than John Beck. Heck was drafted in the second rings, put in a horrible position, and thrown to the side. He got 4 starts on a horrible OL and the team drafted a QB the next year. He was cut a year later...
Occasionally 2nd round picks are truly handed the reigns and given the opportunity to start, but the further in the draft they were taken, the less the investment in them, and the easier it is to go in another direction.
